Speaking at a workshop in Mansakonko organized by the Office of the Ombudsman, Governor Fatou J. Touray praised the efforts
of the Ombudsman in going out to sensitize people to the role and functions of the Office.The workshop which was held on 26 November 2018 was attended by senior public officials in the Lower River Region (LRR).
In delivering the opening remarks, the governor said that public institutions are established to serve members of the public, therefore, she explained that such institutions should create the needed awareness otherwise people would not make use of their services if they don’t know what they are all about.
The governor urged other institutions to emulate the efforts of the Ombudsman in creating awareness. She described the Mansakonko workshop as one of the most worthy events she had attended this year.
The workshop was part of a series of sensitisation activities organized by the Ombudsman, which included a workshop for community representatives, institutional and community clinics as well as phone-in radio programmes.
The sensitisation activities held in LRR were preceded by similar efforts in NBR. The Ombudsman is poised to expend more efforts in creating increased awareness on the role and functions of the Ombudsman countrywide.
