As a provider of administrative justice, it is our responsibility to ensure an accountable system of justice within the civil service. This website will therefore serve as a podium to share information on the services of the Ombudsman not just in the Gambia but the world over.
Since its inception in 1999, there have been remarkable developments in the operation of the Office. The Office spans the length and breath of the country bringing justice to the door steps of all Gambians. The Office will continue to operate with vigour and fearlessness as highlighted by His Excellency the President of the Republic of the Gambia Sheikh Professor Alhaji Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh at the swearing-in ceremony of the first Ombudsman and deputies in 1999 thus “I challenged them to be vigorous and fearless in their investigation and be genuinely independent from the institutions of Government they are investigating. This is a vital and fundamental ingredient of a mature system of justice.”
