The Ombudsman organized a series of sensitisation activities in the Upper River Region from 18 December 2018 to 22 December 2018 in the form of radio programmes, workshops and clinics.
The workshop for public officers was opened by Deputy Governor Samba Bah. In his opening remark Mr Bah thanked the Ombudsman for the initiative and hoped that more sensitisation programmes would be organized.
Mr Bah reminded the participants that they were the lucky ones to have been selected from their institutions. He urged them to share the information they were going to get from the workshop with others who were not lucky to have been in attendance.
A separate workshop was also organized for community representatives and participants were drawn from among village heads ( Alkalolus), VDC chairpersons, the youth and the elderly.
The institutional clinics were organized for the police, immigration, as well and Fire and Rescue Services. In addition, five community clinics were held including the communities of Mansajang, Alunhari and Kabakama.
The members of the communities and participants at the workshops commended the Ombudsman for meeting paradormirmejor.org them in their region to sensitise them.
Phone-in programmes were held on GRTS digital FM. It was a great opportunity for the members of the communities in URR to participate by way of questions and comments. It was an opportunity they fully utilized as the programmes were inundated with calls from all parts of URR and even parts of the Central River Region.
